Sept 17, 2026:  KLC will have 5 members present at KISD Stakeholders bfast to hear from KISD personnel about the upcoming Bond proposals.  Carter, Klein, Funari, Bastrop and Colvin will attend.  Details sent to participants from KISD.

Sept 19, 2026  9-11am.  Quarterly Trash Bash hosted by Lions Bob and Rena Wierdsma.  Light snacks provided prior to the event.  Show up at KLC around 8:30am on Sept 19.  Wear bright clothing.  Takes about an hour for us to cover the 2 mile stretch.  We need all Lions to participate.  Afterwards we will "wash our hands" at Shotzee's for some fellowship and stories about who found the best items.

BBQ 2026:  Need more sponsors.  A signup sheet will be emailed soon.  (whenever Lion Schenk gets it to me).  This is a "all hands on deck" event.

Need more silent auction items.  Need about 18 more bottles of booze for the liquor pull.We will be smoking briskets early this year so details soon on that as well.

Top Soccer is needing a point person from KLC.  Lion JR Herrera will take on this title for now.  This is a special needs group that will be similar to Miracle League but for soccer activities.

The KLC coat Drive was a huge success.  Thank you to Lion Carter for spearheading this effort on Sept 12.

Upcoming Events:  Rise against Hunger.  KLC will host the event at metal building.10-10-26.  It is a Rotary event that is expected to have 100 vols to prep meals.  Expecting to build 25K meals.  More details after BBQ

10-24-2026 Trunk or Treat at KLC hosted by Randy's Ride.  Details soon

12 bike helmets donated to select students at Keller Harvel from Randy's Ride with connection from KLC.

Guest Speaker and presentation; Top Soccer, KSA special needs soccer program. Speakers Chyanne and Derik shared the program details: Children ages 4-18 are welcome and the games are played at the Keller soccer fields on Sunday afternoons from 2:00 to 3:30. They expect to have at least 75 kids this year. This program is very similar to the Miracle League program. JR mentioned they are supporting the program and it was well organized and a great volunteer opportunity. Their main needs are volunteer help during the games. Lion Young mentioned it may be a good group activity for the club and we would discuss it at a future meeting.  info is available on the Keller youth soccer website. 


Past Events: Metroport Meals on wheels. We have enough Lions to conduct onsite training. Lion Young will follow up with Ann Marie to select a date. potentially before or after a regular meeting.


Current events:


BBQ Liquor Pull: Lion Joe updated us on bottle count, over 20 bottles added bringing the count to 57, so about halfway to the minimum goal. ANY type Liquor counts, Joe is not picky! dig into the cupboards and pull out those unused bottles. Lots of great options at stores for $25.Bring ASAP.

BBQ Sponsorships: lets all get out and ask someone to sponsor. lLIon Gene mentioned that anyone can be a sponsor. we have the $200 "Friend of Lions" level, it does not have to be a business. We are still in need of more, both past and new sponsors. 

BBQ Sign ups: All members are asked to get involved. It is a two day event with plenty of opportunities to serve. Sign ups at the next meeting, come have some fun!

BBQ Silent auction: Lion Elizabeth updated us on the silent auction. looking for auction items from local businesses or just from people we know. She has signage and auction sheets ready to go. 

Winter coat/hat/glove drive:  Lion Elizableth shared info about the drive. The needs are for gently used or new coats, hats and gloves. all school age items are needed but more for older kids. Sept 12th from 9:00am to noon. Drop off locations are available as well. Armstrong Chiropractic, JR's BBQ, First Financial Bank, Acquario Pizza Pasta Bar, DeVivos Eatery.

Trunk or Treat car and bike show: October 24th from 12:00 to 3:00pm. Bring your car or bike or just show up and support a great cause. games and prizes! Questions reach out to Lion Elizabeth.

Keller 4H student leaders gave "thankful" appreciation presentation to KLC for participation and use of facilities.

Past Events:  Metroport Meals on Wheels will present onsite training if we have 10 persons interested.   Persons interested:  Amit, Larry, JR, Tony, Armstrong x 2, Pat McGrail x 2.  This is the list so far...need 10 total.  Please contact Faron if you are interested.  This is a minimal required effort 1-2x per month max.

Current Events:  

BBQ Liquor Pull:  Lion Funari needs everyone to participate and bring some bottles of alcohol...min. 25.00 value....buy your bargains.  Currently we have about 25 bottles.  Goal is 100 bottles.  Bring ASAP  event is Oct 2, 2026

2026 BBQ sponsorships are needed now.  Email with the sponsor forms has already been sent to all members.  This events ability to give to our benefactors is dependent on sponsorships.  Our Ultimate Title sponsors this year even above our title sponsor will be the 2 contractors that donated the 30K dollar fans and install in the metal building.  

2026 BBQ needs for KLC members:  It is a 2 day event Oct 2 and 3, 2026.  Everyone is expected to be participating in some capacity.  A list of tasks and leaders of each task will be sent for signups.  Everyone please do your part.....it is appreciated.

Oct 10, 2026:  KLC will host an event in the metal building for "Meal Building".  This is a Rotary function.  More details soon.  The entire project will require 40-50 vols.  KLC will be also invited to provide some vols.

Board Meeting 

KLC will provide support of 600.00 to Whitley Elementary (title 1 school) in KISD.  300.00 to Elizabeth Carter reimbursement of already purchased items and 300.00 additional for restocking once the current items are diminished.  Unan approval

Discussion and approval to contribute to Keller Chamber Golf tourney in the form of providing a support tent with KLC having fruit, drinks etc available for participants along with a 300.00 donation to the event.  Unan approval.  (note:  Doc was informed by the Chamber manager that they graciously thank us but cannot accept our participation at the $ amount offered)  Assumption that our offer is now off the table till the board discusses again.

Discussion by Elizabeth Carter for a Hat/gloves/coat drive in September 2026 to benefit KISD.  More details soon.

Lion Faron in charge and getting more in control of this group of Do'ers!  Prayer and Pledge so good.

Speaker:  Anne Marie Walker, Metroport Meals on Wheels.  Discussion about their efforts and needing more drivers for the Keller Area.  Willing to do an onsite training for US if we have enough people interested.

Past Events: 

Lion Elizabeth and her son Charlie attended Texas Lions Camp as part of the Family Camp.  She gave a brief talk about the experience.

Back to School Bash:  Thank you to the 5-7 people that participated in the screening of over 100 KISD students.  

New Member meet and greet held last week for all new members that have joined within the last 2 years.  Good engagement from newbies and oldies to share experiences and unknowns.

Upcoming Events:  

BBQ Oct 2/3.

John Schenk and Jarrett Armstrong-Co-Chairs for getting all tasks covered for the event.  More details coming soon.  Be working on sponsorships and bringing a bottle of booze for the booze raffle.  All members are encouraged to bring at least 1 bottle of booze 25.00 or greater in value.  Drop off can be done at KLC or Armstrong Chiropractic

Oct 10-Rise Against Hunger event.  To be held at KLC and we can also provide volunteers to fill boxes for the event.  This is a Rotary event and we will be the major effort in volunteers

Lion President Faron Young and his 1st meeting of the presidency.  Prayer and Pledge to open the meeting.

Presentation:  Miracle League rep; Stephanie Heady and guests presented KLC with a commemorative Bat for the continued sponsorship of the programs.

Past Dist. Governor Woody Mathews provided a brief talk about District news and events.

Pres Young read 2 Thank You cards for past support from KLC.

KLC committed events:  July 16 will be Back to School Bash.  Need about 6 people to assist with vision screenings.  DONE and successful.  Thanks to those that stepped up.

BBQ OCT 2/3, 2026.  Need everyone to start thinking about sponsor recruitment, judges for the event (sponsoring gets good seats).  Also need everyone to start bringing some bottles of 25.00 and up libations for our Liquor Pull at the event.  Joe Funari will head this up.  Would like to have 100 bottles.  If everyone single Lion brings 1 that would provide us at least 75.  

Presentation:  Past Presidents plaque to our outgoing President, Larry Lodge.  Job Well Done Sir!

Speaker:  Diane Borge-program about E Grab Foundation, Inc.  Rescue trafficked individuals.

Speaker:  Clayton Boswell.  Presentation and request for $ assistance for his Eagle project.  Add-on structure of loafing shed at Christ Haven for Children.  KLC Exec Board approved donation of up to $500.00 donation with proof of receipts.  

Visitors:  2nd visit for Reed and Linda Yates....asked for applications.  Rena Wierdsma....2nd visit as well...ask for application.

Past Events:  Successful Trash Bash for 2nd Quarter 2026.  About 20 Lions and guests participated.  Funeral and visitation for Lion Fred Held.  

Upcoming Events:  July 16...Back to School Bash.  Fossil Ridge HS.  2 shifts.  9:30-12 and 12-2:30.  Details soon

June 20th training for new officers.  Inquire with incoming Pres Faron Young if you wish to participate.

District 2E2 is needing some cabinet candidates...inquire with Faron.
